Irene McCann

Irene McCann, loving mother and grandmother "Nana" passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center, Tuesday, February 10, 2009. She was 87 years old.

Irene was born in New York City on May 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Louis and Emma DePalma. She was a graduate of the all-girls high school Julia Richmond in NYC. On April 11, 1942 in NYC, Irene married James J. McCann, a native of Ireland. Mr. McCann predeceased his beloved wife on March 27, 1982.

Irene worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. until she and her husband Jimmy began their family, moving to River Road in Cold Spring in 1948. She worked in Palen's Drug Store for years and was active in Our Lady of Loretto church and school.

Irene's whole world was her family, especially being a "Nana" to her grandchildren, spending happy days together. She moved to Kingston, NY in 2007, to be near her daughter, Maureen Moore.

Irene is survived by her adoring family, daughters Eileen McCann of Tennessee; Maureen and her husband George Moore of West Hurley, NY and a son, Kevin, and his wife Michele, of South Carolina; beloved grandchildren Patrick, Timothy, Kelly, Matthew and Joshua.

Arrangements were at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Homes, Fishkill, NY, with a Mass at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Fishkill, where Irene was a member of the Marion Guild. Interment followed in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

We will surely miss our dear "Nana."
