Parachutes at Philipstown Park

By John Maasik
Special to the PCN&R

At about 10:15 Saturday morning at Philipstown Park, the rec soccer players were surprised to see four parachutes dropping down on our side of the river, and onto our playing fields. Two cadets landed safely in Philipstown Park, and two more at St. Basil’s.

Cadet Brian Reasonover explained that there was a huge gust during free-fall that led the parachutes off course, from the parade grounds where they were supposed to land.

An Eagle Scout as a youth, Cadet Reasonover took the opportunity to show his parachute to the excited crowd, and taught a few of them how to pack a parachute while he waited for a ride back to West Point.
