County Executive Mary Ellen Odell loves all four-legged creatures.

"There is nothing like a pet to make you feel good. Dogs and cats act as a therapy for many people," she said Friday when welcoming Brittney Simone to her office in recognition of Bring Your Pet to Work Day.

Brittney, a Labradoodle, is owned by the executive's chief of staff Trish Simone.

Brittney sat with the executive for several hours as meetings with staff were conducted. Odell said if she was a betting woman "by her expression, I'd say Brittney knew exactly what we were talking about."

By mid-afternoon the work load apparently got to Brittney.

"She quietly walked out of my office and the next thing I knew—there was Brittney near her master's desk—fast asleep," said Odell.
