Image Provided Charlotte Eaton Image Provided Charlotte Eaton, 87, passed away peacefully at her youngest daughter’s home in Beacon, NY, on Friday January 27, 2012. Cold Spring has been her home for the last 45 years. She was born on July 14, 1924 to the late Charles and Victoria Buckley, growing up in Ridgewood, N.J.

Charlotte was married to Frank N. Eaton, of Bucksport, Maine, on June 28, 1947. Her husband for 44 years, he predeceased her on January 5, 1993.

Charlotte was a loving and creative mother, wife, teacher, historian, gardener and pastel artist. She taught kindergarten at the Haldane Central School (1964-1982), served as curator of the Putnam County Historical Society and Foundry School Museum (1988-2000) and continued as Historian (2000-present).

She was also a docent at Boscobel (1990-2010). Charlotte was an active member for many years of the Butterfield Quilters Guild, the Highland Garden Club, and the Philipstown Garden Club and the St. Mary’s Episcopal church Altar Guild. She was a past matron of The Order of the Eastern Star. Charlotte also assisted her husband Frank with his business, the former Eaton Funeral Home.

Charlotte is survived by her five children, Frank Newell Eaton, Charles Buckley Eaton M.D., Gail Eaton Alguire, Marilyn Eaton McQuade, Emelie Eaton Zias, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Clinton Funeral Home, located on the corner of Parrott & Pine (21 Parrott St), in Cold Spring NY, on Thursday, February 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at St Mary-intheHighlands Church in late March, with the date to be announced soon.
