Take Charge of Your Life with Vision Rehabilitation
For the second year, Harry Belafonte resumes his role as spokesperson for National Vision Rehabilitation Day along with Lighthouse International, a leading resource worldwide on vision impairment and vision rehabilitation. Together they are spearheading a major public health campaign to create greater awareness of how people who are blind or partially sighted can overcome the challenges of vision impairment through counseling and training. Dozens of national organizations from across the country, including the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), are joining the Lighthouse and national spokesperson, entertainer Harry Belafonte, in the campaign, which kicks off on Thursday, September 13, 2001- National Vision Rehabilitation Day (NVRD). For the second consecutive year, Mr. Belafonte has assumed the role as national spokesperson for NVRD. The rallying slogan, "Take a Tip from Harry: Take Charge of Your Life!" encourages people who are visually impaired, as well as their family and friends, to learn more about vision rehabilitation services that help people with vision loss manage tasks safely and independently.
