Nancy M. Upton

A memorial service for Nancy Marie Upton, 74, of Lawton, were held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at the Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Lawton, Oklahoma, with Jim Antwine, officiating.

Mrs. Upton died Monday, February 3, 2003 at a local Lawton hospital.

Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in Lawton under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Nancy Marie Upton was born on April 5, 1928 in Quincy, Massachusetts to Karl Gustav and Katrin (Anderson) Leaf. She was raised in Quincy and Braintree, Massachusetts, until she moved to New York, where she lived for over 50 years. She moved to Lawton in November 2000. She married Earl Upton in Green Field, Massachusetts on May 4, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2001. She was active in the Girl Scouts and was a den leader for the Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Service in Cold Spring, New York. She was a member of Cold Spring Methodist Church in Cold Spring, New York. She was also an avid quilter.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Ruth Leaf.

She is survived by two sons, E. Carl Upton and his wife, Mary Jo, of Rhinebeck, New York, and David B. Upton and his wife, Mary Ann, of Lewiston, Maine; and two daughters: Ruth and her husband, Richard Ritter, of Marlow, MA, and Sandra and her husband, Wayne Murphy, of Lawton, OK; one brother, Harry Vincent Leaf, and his wife, Jeanne of Marshfield, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl and her husband, Peter Soencksen, of Pleasant Valley, New York.
