Veronica Berrigan Lahey

Veronica Berrigan Lahey, age 86, of Cold Spring, died on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, NY.

Born April 30, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ethel (Maguire) Berrigan.

Mrs. Lahey attended Performing Arts School in New York, NY were she was a Ballerina, having danced at the Metropolitan with the Bolshoi Ballet. She was an avid volunteer in Cold Spring, including many hours of service at the Julia L. Butterfield Memorial Library and the Putnam County Historical Society. She was also a parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph B. Lahey, who died January 2, 1997. They were married in Cold Spring October 22, 1946. She is survived by one sister, Catherine Loughlin, three nieces, Cathy

Mulrenan, Maureen Jones, and Sheila Robinson, two sistersin law, Patricia Lahey Shea and Grace Lahey Lyons, one brother-in-law, Terry Lahey, and many nieces and nephews. One brother, Edward Berrigan, predeceased her.

A private cremation service under the direction of Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott St., Cold Spring has already taken place. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair St., Cold Spring, at 11:00am. Interment of ashes will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Mrs. Lahey's name to Our Lady of Loretto Parish, 24 Fair St., Cold Spring, NY 10516 or the St. Cecilia Chorus, PO Box 421, FDR Station, NY, NY 10150-0421
