James J. Clinton, Sr.

James J. Clinton, Sr. age 74 of Cold Spring, NY and Clermont, FLdied on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at his residence in Florida.

Born in Troy, NY on February 28, 1932 he was the son of the late Christopher J. and Marguerite C. (Burns) Clinton.

He was a graduate of LaSalle Military Institute Class of 1949 in Troy, NY, a graduate of McAllister School of Embalming Class of 1950 in New York, NY, A U. S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War from 1952-54. He founded Clinton Inc., "The Funeral Home" in Cold Spring, NY in 1958 and later opened a location in Peekskill, NY in 1967. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Assn., the N. Y. State Funeral Directors Assn., and the Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster Funeral Directors Assn. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring, NY and of Blessed Sacrament Church in Clermont, FL. Mr. Clinton was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Loretto Council #536 in Cold Spring, and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Assembly #069 in Beacon, NY. A Life member of the James Harvey Hustis Post #2362 VFW and of the George A. Casey Post #275 of the American Legion. A member of Cold Spring Fire Co. #1, a life member of Beacon Lodge #1493 BPOE. A member of numerous bowling leagues, having played with

many teams including the Cold Spring Lions Club team and his own team for Clinton Funeral in Beacon, Wappinger Falls and Fishkill. Upon his move to Clermont in 1996 Mr. Clinton was an avid golfer, recording three hole-in-ones at Kings Ridge Golf Course. He was also a Life member, Past President, Former Zone Chairman, and Deputy District Governor for the Cold Spring Lions Club, where he has been a member since 1961.

He is survived by his wife, Rita A. (Plumadore) Clinton of the home address; they were married on June 14 1952 in Troy, NY and had just celebrated their 54th Anniversary in June. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, M. Christine (Donald W.) Frasier of Stuyvesant, NY, one son, James J. (Christine G.) Clinton, Jr. of Cold Spring, NY, six grandchildren, Cynthia A. Frasier, Laura L. Craig, Michael B. Frasier, Stephanie L. Clinton, James J. Clinton III and Matthew C. Clinton, and one great-granddaughter Amanda L. Craig.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 14, 2006 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring. Entombment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy, NY.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made in Mr. Clinton's name to Hospice of Lake and Sumter, 12500 Lane Park Rd. Tavares, FL32778-9660.
