Car Careens into Nelsonville Home

By Tim Greco

About 9:15 this morning (Saturday) a car crashed into a home on 359 Main Street in Nelsonville at the crossroads.

The Cold Spring Fire Company responded as did police.

It was not immediately apparent what caused the driver to plow into the home.  The homeowner, who did not wish to be named, said she was in her living room when the car hit the outside wall inside which she had been sitting. She did not appear to be injured.

The car struck with such force that the windows of the home were twisted. The fire company called Downey oil Company to come and see if the fuel lines had been damaged. The fuel did not appear to be leaking from the tank, which was situated on the opposite side of the house.

At the scene an officer was directing traffic but there did not seem to be any congestion.

Many of the neighbors were observing the crash from a safe distance.
