Catherine Gesualdo

Catherine Gesualdo, age 101, of Cold Spring, died on Wednesday, July 2, at Wingate at Beacon in Beacon. Born in Cold Spring, on September 3, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Oliva) Gesualdo.

Miss Gesualdo, a lifelong Cold Spring resident, gave generously of her time and talents as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts of America, the weekly bingo games at Our Lady of Loretto Church and countless hours as a volunteer for the former J.L.Butterfield Memorial Hospital in Cold Spring.

She was a retired Senior Clerk for Powers & Haar Insurance Company in Cold Spring and a parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring.

In fact, current Powers & Harr agent Donna Steltz was Catherine’s neighbor on Church Street. She remembers Catherine as a very active member of the church and community, and friends with many. She was also Ms. Steltz’s Girl Scout Troop Leader.

“She was on Church Street when I was 3 years old,” Donna told the PCNR.

Pre-deceasing Catherine were a brother Peter Gesualdo and a sister Anne Gesualdo.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10am, Tuesday, July 8, at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair Street, Cold Spring. Interment followed in Cold Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair Street, Cold Spring, NY.
