Robert Galassi

Robert Galassi, a resident of the Lake Peekskill section of Putnam Valley died at his home on May 5, 2011 after a valiant battle with cancer. Robert was born on Oct. 21, 1949 in Tarrytown, NY, to Mario Galassi and Nancy (Casarella) Galassi; both of whom predeceased Robert.

He was a graduate of Pace University, and he served his country as an M.P. in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era (1971-1972). Robert retired after working for 36 years for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Elmsford. He was a parishioner of St. Columbanus Church and served as an Officer in the Lake Peekskill Civic Association. Robert was a sitting Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Peekskill Council #462. He was a good friend, and was an inspiration to many, especially in his fight against cancer.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Linda (Bellantoni) Galassi and their cherished daughter, Melissa Galassi. He is the loving brother of Patricia Hood, Debra (George) Lopano, and Richard Galassi. Robert is also survived by his loving sisters-in-law Maryann (Alfred) Marconi and Antoinette Bellantoni, and brothers-in-law Anthony (Lisa) Bellantoni and Michael Bellantoni. He will also be fondly remembered by his loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4pm to 8pm, at the Heritage Funeral Home, Morrissey Drive, Putnam Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 11am at St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor, followed by private cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Knights of Columbus Peekskill Council #462 Building Fund, PO Box 288, Peekskill, NY 10566.
