Positioning for Power: Cold Spring Trustee Race

On March 15, Cold Spring will hold its biennial village election. The two trustees up for election are lifelong village residents Bruce Campbell and Ralph Falloon. Catharine Square, who moved to Cold Spring six years ago, is looking to take one of the two seats. The race has been quiet as all three candidates abstain from the mudslinging of politics, running solely on their desires to help their neighbors.

Anthony Phillips is looking to retake the mayor’s seat from incumbent Seth Gallagher. In 2009, Gallagher defeated Phillips after the latter had held the post for 16 years. For profiles of Gallagher and Phillips, see last week’s edition of the PCN&R.

The Village of Nelsonville will also hold elections on March 15. Mayor Thomas Corless will go unchallenged, but incumbent village trustee Ande Merante will face Steven Dubroff in the first contested election in ten years.
